To prepare a report using IDIS, simply create your committee file and reporting period, then enter information about receipts and expenditures. IDIS will prepare the report and all necessary schedules. IDIS will compute all totals, determine whether data should be itemized and determine if an employer and occupation must be disclosed. IDIS requires that you enter names and addresses only once. Once entered, they will be available for all subsequent filings and can easily be changed if needed. You can view a report at any time and see what it would look like if filed at that point. You can also use a validator feature to determine if there are any errors on the report or if information required by law is missing (such as an address, employer and occupation information or a description of an expenditure).

The IDIS software will run on any 32-bit Windows-based platform. It can also run on a MAC if Virtual PC software is installed. If you are attempting to run IDIS on a computer with the Microsoft VISTA Operating System, follow the instructions below.

Running IDIS with Microsoft Vista
IDIS will run under the Windows Vista Operating System from Microsoft. The following steps must be taken to ensure proper execution of the IDIS application:

1. Once you have obtained the installation file, right click on the .exe file and "Run as Administrator". This will execute the setup file with full Administrator rights on the Vista Operating System.

2. After completing the setup, find the shortcut that you will use to run IDIS. Right click on that shortcut.

3. Then left Click on Properties.

4. Under the Shortcut tab, click on the Advanced button.

5. Under the Advanced Properties, click the check box for "Run as Administrator".

6. Click the OK button at the bottom of the window.

7. You must use this shortcut each time you run the IDIS program.
